Observational Poem #12

I swallowed my gum, not the pills

it didn't work
because of these memories
          stuffy room
          like a pig
          a broken down lazy-boy
          our hall light flickered on
          the switch was off
Can you see the synapses?
I can't tell
up to this point, I haven't remembered anything for 20 years
          down on linoleum
          the cricket interested me
          a mental hospital cricket
          at the zoo
the elephant was going to eat him
That's interesting
how memories influence how you think now
          I could really fly good
          I ran into people
          wearing strange hats
          while changing the machines over
          people that you haven't met
That's the day I fell in love
          But then I sold out
here's the story about me
I still have bad memories
so I never write it.
